Some states are slowly starting to re-open their economies, but here in Michigan, we have a stay-at-home order in effect until May 28. With a few more weeks left of being in quarantine, I wanted to provide some inspiration to help you feel like yourself again.
One thing I have been feeling lately is simply: not feeling like myself. I’ve noticed I’ve been saying that a lot to family and myself. It had me thinking that I can’t be the only one feeling this way. Most of us have been practicing some sort of social distancing. But if you add on the uncertainty of these times, that’s the perfect mix to have you feeling way off from how you normally feel.
This is why I wanted to create this list of inspiring ways to just make you feel like yourself again! We’ve come a long way and things will eventually go back to normal. But until then, all we can do is try to handle everything the best we can.
In case you missed it, you can also check out my book recommendations for quarantine here. Along with some ideas for how to shop small during this time here. But let’s get into the little (but impactful) ways you can hit refresh and try to feel like YOU again.
8 ways to feel like yourself again in quarantine
Stick to schedules.
Whether this means a morning routine, night routine, or a daily to-do list. Sticking to these routines will help you feel normal again. I notice that when I just roll with the day and don’t look at my to-do list, it causes me to feel more uneasy. The more control I have in my day the better I feel overall!
I’ve used a lot of planners over the years, and the one I LOVE and have used every day for the last year is the Day Designer. If you’re looking for a new planner to say organized check out the links below.

Get moving.
Whatever movement brings you joy! Yoga, walking, stretching, running, circuit workouts, HIIT workouts, etc. There’s something you enjoy doing and we need all the good endorphins we can get while living in uncertain times. Some of my FAV workout gear + products are linked below. I always seem more motivated when I have a new workout set or protein powder to look forward to!

Try an at-home sunless tan!
I always feel a million times better when I’m a few shades darker. My favorite routine is to use St. Tropez Express tanning mousse. I leave that on for 3 hours and then wash it off before I go to bed. Make sure you shower and exfoliate before you apply the mousse as well. After a few days, I will start to moisturize my entire body with Isle of Paradise tanning drops in my moisturizer. Make sure you use Cetaphil moisturizer because it will help your tan last. When you use moisturizer and body wash that have fragrance and other chemicals, they will wash your tan right off—so Cetaphil is where it’s at.

Give some attention to your nails.
Despite all this extra time we have, I still somehow let my nails go every so often. Especially my toes! I always feel better once my chipped nails are gone and I have a brand new mani/pedi—even if I did it myself! My favorite nail polish has been Essie when I do my own nails, it has been for years. Reach out to family and/or friends to catch up.
You may feel so distant from your friends at this point, due to so many weeks of the stay-at-home orders. But the distance is no match for true friendships. That’s the beauty of it. You can always pick up where you left off with a great friend or family member. I’m very good at getting caught up in my work and life and can easily forget to check in with my people. When I do I always feel a million times better after chatting with them!
Upgrade some home appliances.
It’s a lot easier to catch sales now that we have so much more time at home. Take inventory of your current appliances and make note of ones you want to upgrade or even make a wishlist of items you’d like to add to your home. Spending some time and a little extra money on our homes helps us feel more comfortable and at ease, with the current environment we live in. I’ve been way more on the lookout for sales, so here is some appliance I’ve found on sale.

Redo a small area in your living space.
For me, this was our pantry! I swear I never tried organizing that area the entire time I’ve lived here, I’ve never had the time. I bought some baskets from Target and some food storage containers and now I’m LOVING how clean and minimalistic it looks. You can always choose to do curbside pickup at Target which has been a lifesaver for me. I also really enjoyed getting rid of so much junk I don’t use anymore. If it’s not a pantry, it could be a closet or even a corner in your house you want to redecorate. It always feels good seeing an update in your living space.
Take breaks.
Something I have really struggled with is staying motivated. I’m usually a very motivated person so feeling so unmotivated has been a huge culprit to me not feeling like myself.
One productivity tip one of you sent into my stories is all about “focus hours”. Essentially you start out with a walk (or even a workout) and then focus for one hour, then take a break for another—and repeat. I think this is a great tip even if you feel sluggish in the middle of the day. It’s a great way to reset your mindset and still get some stuff done.
These times sure are crazy but knowing that we will all come out of this stronger is what keeps me at peace. Little tips here and there go a long way. What have you been doing to feel like yourself again? Let me know in the comments below!
