Hey guys! I honestly didn’t think I was going to be able to get a blog up tonight because of this cold I’m dealing with, but I guess there’s just something inside me that won’t let me give up! On a positive note, today’s topic is something I’ve been super excited to write about for a few weeks now, so that alone makes it all worthwhile. 🙂
As we inch closer to the holidays, it’s pretty easy to let yourself get a little stressed. I know I’m SUPER guilty of this and could probably take my advice more often than not, hehe. But here we are! Let’s dive into some useful tips to help keep us sane and more easy-going this next week or so.
- Clean up!
Even if it’s just one room in your house, I promise you’ll notice a difference when things are clean and tidy. I’m always my most relaxed self when my entire apartment is spotless. If you’re anything like me, you might need some cleaning motivation, and I finally found the perfect solution lol! There’s a whole bunch of speed cleaning videos on Youtube (that I recently discovered, and I don’t know how I’ve lived this long without them, haha). I throw one of those videos on and get cleaning! They always have exciting cleaning tips where I learn something new or even games to play along to see how much you can get cleaned at a specific time. I highly suggest it!! - Make some DIY gifts.
If you’re feeling some financial stress and still missing presents for the people on your list, this is a great option. Not only is it budget-friendly, but it comes from the heart which people genuinely appreciate. You can find some DIY gift ideas from my blog post:Â Gift Guide based on their Love Language. - Get moving!
This is something I need to get back into once I get over this cold, yuck. Lately, I’ve been slacking on working out or even just getting outside for a walk. Some fresh air can help clear the mind and produce endorphins, which helps us relax. I know it can seem impossible to find time around the holidays to do this, but even if it’s three times a week for 20 minutes, it will help. <3Â - Don’t abandon healthy habits.
This one kind of piggybacks off the previous one, but it’s so true. It’s easy to over-indulge over the holidays, but if you try to keep to a balanced diet, you’ll be thanking yourself later. - Schedule some relax time.
During a busy season like the holidays, it’s way too easy to let alone time go out the window. But during this season, it’s more important than ever to get that time in so you don’t let the hustle and bustle of the season get to you. It’s the perfect time to spoil yourself to a facial or massage. And if you’d rather save that cash, make a detox bath and force yourself to read a book or relax for at least 20 min. I found this article super helpful if you want more information on how to make a detox bath! - Spend quality time with a good friend.
Sometimes it can be easy to avoid scheduling more plans with friends when you feel a lot is going on, but more often than not, once you are out and enjoying time with a friend, you’re feeling good and glad you went out. Even if it’s just one friend, you meet for coffee or a happy hour. Once you are out, you will be glad you did. Besides, that’s what this season is all about—spending time with family and friends. - Watch a Christmas movie marathon.
Escape all your to-dos for an afternoon and simply get whisked away from real life with cheesy Christmas movies. Or better yet, go to an actual movie theatre where you can escape for a few hours. - Try a group meditation class.
Group meditating is something I have yet to try, but one of my best friends swears by it! She goes regularly, and although it took her a few times to get used to it, she can now say how much it has helped her life as a whole. If you can find the time to do so, it could definitely turn things around for you. And if you really can’t find the time, try using the app Insight Timer before you go to bed to help you relax. That’s something I do regularly! I like this app best because it’s 100% free. - Know your boundaries and when to say no.
I think this is something I will always have to work on as I’m a people pleaser, but it’s so sooooo important, I can’t stress it enough. If you feel like you don’t have time for another get-together or friend’s party, they will understand if you can’t make it. You’ll be much happier you said no and are doing what is best for you instead. Whether it’s more chores, work, or just some self-care time that’s really needed. Know your limits, babes 🙂Â
I hope you guys are enjoying this holiday season despite the craziness that comes with it! For me, this has been an insanely busy week, along with getting sick on top of it, but I’m choosing to try and see the positive! With that being said, this girl SERIOUSLY needs to hop in her bed… like right now. lol.
PS do you have any suggestions for future blogs before my challenge is over?? I have most of it planned but would love to tailor my content to anything you’d like to see. <3 Love you guys!!
