Happy Tuesday! ? I really wanted to share some of the photos I took from last weekend—I feel like you can really capture special moments with photography and I think these pictures speak for themselves. The Italian side of my family decided to all get together this year to create homemade ravioli and pasta… it turned into an all day event! As I get older, I’m starting to appreciate family more and more. And honestly, I don’t know what I would do without them. We can all get together and just have a great time—we accept each other’s quirks and learn to laugh with one another despite our differences.
Anyway, when I arrived at my aunt’s house, everyone had already started prepping. Everyone had a job, and we worked all afternoon. We made our filling with veal, ground beef, parsley, and garlic. Really starting to wish I had some of these ravs in front of me as I am writing this! ?
While the filling was getting ready we started to create the dough at the same time. I must say, I learned a lot about making dough… don’t know what I would do without all of my aunts and uncles knowledge! After the dough and filling were ready we had to flatten the dough and then start creating the ravioli. It’s actually quite fun!
You lay a long flattened piece of dough out and then add a row of the meat filling piled together in sections. Next, you fold the dough over the filling and press down around the meat piles to get all of the air out. Then the fun part! You get to use these awesome nifty little stamp cutouts to cut out the ravioli from the long piece of dough. After you have your ravioli in hand you have to seal the edges with a fork, this can also be the “decorative” stage. We had so much fun working together and creating a TON of ravioli! We were even able to use the extra dough to create pasta. ?
Thanksgiving is only in two days and I feel like I still have so much to do! I am attending a Friendsgiving tomorrow, though, and I couldn’t be more excited to see all of my friends—especially the ones coming in from out of town! I am bringing cheesy potatoes, a recipe I grew up with my Mom making… so delicious! Thinking about sharing the recipe on here! I’m headed off to pass out in my super amazing, comfy, warm bed. Good night lovelies <3.
